That's always been a kind of truism in American politics. Today, however,
Steven Malanga shows why, in our current politics, it's true for reasons different from the ones that inspired the cliche. It also speaks to the difficulties that will face a newly energized GOP and their Tea Party base when, and if, they attain majorities in November. We're a long ways from cleaning up this mess.
