Dancing Dictators

All of the usual suspects of the Americas--Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Daniel Ortega--are
expressing solidarity with their old friend Gaddafi as he fights to the bitter end in Libya and trying to blame America for the chaos in Libya. Like China, they are worried that the protests throughout the Muslim world will ignite fires elsewhere and are subsequently
moving to fortify their repressive regimes.
Meanwhile, nuclear-seeking tyrant Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
has condemned Gaddafi for oppressing and murdering his own people and expressed solidarity with the people of Libya in their quest for liberty. Apparently he has forgotten about when he oversaw
the crackdown on and deaths of his own citizens two years ago, and his decision yesterday to start confiscating television satellite dishes around Iran in order to further his control on information. Or maybe he is just jealous that Gaddafi's Libya gets to join such prestigious nations as China, Cuba, and Saudi Arabia on the
United Nations Human Rights Council while Iran is forced to keep its anti-Semitic, anti-American
rhetoric to the General Assembly.
