George Will lays out why the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees is such a powerful force in the Democratic Party, and why it will have a huge effect on who becomes the Democratic nominee for president, as it did in 1992. It is worth noting that in 1955, 33% of the work force was unionized. Today, it is only 13.2%. But, 37.5% of government workers are unionized.
