Brookhiser (or is it Bookhiser) on books
Posted by Joseph Knippenberg
Rick Brookhiser discusses what may be the next I-Pod, the E-Book. He gets much of it write, er. right, I think, though he clearly doesnt enjoying writing in his books as much as I do. And I wouldnt mind getting my hands on some of the twenty books he gives away each month, "what with reviewers copies and other freebies."

One of lifes greatest pleasures is walking into my study with a coffee or brandy and pouring over my pretties ranging on my shelves. I pull down a volume, open its dusty covers, and take in a deep breath smelling the book. I remember fondly which bookstore I bought it at by its smell and the day I bought it. I then read through some and jot some notes down in the margins while I sip my drink. Its now de-flowered, though never finished with - Ill come back to it in a day or in ten years. Cant do that with a computer or some such hand-held device.
