I for one am tired of the whole Vietnam/Iraq analogy. One statistic explodes the comparison -- in Iraq weve averaged about 50 to 60 dead a month. In Vietnam, we averaged 655 dead per month. Blood is blood, and I dont mean to disparage anyones sacrifice, but Vietnam was a much more serious, costly conflict -- although I suspect that Iraq is far more important in geopolitical terms.
"When I get home next time, Huffman said, the hardest thing to get used to will be the eight-hour workdays. Over here, were always raring to go."
"The thing I regret most about my time [in Vietnam] was we were just plain fighters. We didnt go out and help people with their everyday lives."
Stories such as this one are the ones which really make me proud of our American Military personnel. This boys know what theyre doing, and theyre proud to be the ones to do it. Its too bad more people dont think that way about their jobs.
These*. Sorry about that.
