Tony Snow

If, in fact,
Tony Snow ends up taking the White House press secretary job, as CNN is reporting, it will do Bush much good. Snow is a smart guy, and people like him. He is gentle, but can be very firm, and if he can show that hard inside against the pushy front-row in the briefing room from time to time, that will do the administration much good in tough times. He gave a talk on
federalism at the Ashbrook Center back in 1995.

If Snow does take the job, it had better be for the duration. Celebrities are always a risk because they can command so much more money for less grief. On Bushs end, he had better give Tony a fairly free rein and keep him thoroughly informed. The fact that the unsuitable Scott McClellan was kept on as long as he was, indeed that he was hired in the first place, calls into serious question this presidents understanding of communication and its importance. While he did the right thing by firing McClellan, that doesnt necessarily mean that Bush will now handle communcations, and Snow, correctly. We can hope.
Oooo . . . Snow has a degree in philosophy. Theres hope for him yet . . .
Snow is just moving from the receiving to the sending end of the fax machine. He has been a guest host on Rush Limbaughs show, so we can be sure hell give everybody the straight scoop... (I wont elaborate on what it will be a scoop OF)
