Ontario Premier Rejects Sharia Law

The Toronto Star reports that Dalton McGuinty, premier of Ontario, Canada (not to be confused with Ontario, the suburb of Mansfield, Ohio) is moving to ban all religious arbitration in his province.
The announcement prompted tears of joy and cartwheels among opponents of sharia who say they suffered constant harassment, including verbal taunts, physical attacks and even death threats by fundamentalist Muslims because of their stance.

No...it can’t be true. A Canuck with cahones? I don’t believe it...his multicultural brethren will "love bomb" him for this!
Ontario is a basket case when it comes to dealing with religious freedom and pluralism. In this case, Premier McGuinty also ended religiously based arbitration for Jews and Christians (which have existed since 1991). Now people are calling for the end of publicly funded religious schools. This in itself may not be bad, but there no calls for freeing up the education system to include more private schools or vouchers. I guess that would be too "American" for their tastes. Sad.
