Politics and moral capital

Rich Lowry has a thought. George Will and Howard Fineman agree that if the Democrats cant take the House now (given the indignation caused by the Foley affair) then they ought to get out of politics (i.e., go the way of the Whigs).

The Foley thing would not be an issue if people were not already very dissatisfied with Congress.
The George Will article is here.
The "Foley thing" isnt much of an issue. The "Foley coverup thing" is a gigantic issue that wont go away, ever.
Like the Catholic Chuch coverup issue will never go away.
Peter:
if they go the way of the Whigs, they will become Republicans. Are you sure thats what you want?
A party that must rely on the Manufactured News Networks and October Surprises such as an old DUI, phony TANG memos and now obstructing an investigation into a sex scandal in order to blame Hastert--that party has already lost.
I agree...the Democrat Party has always been a little shady, but these days they absolutely slither. And the really sad thing is, they dont do much for their mascot minorities...far too busy catering to the Limocratic core.
This is the kind of moral rot we see in Euro politics/society...the society-busting kind.
