Late Monday, elder Willie Jessop said the church won’t allow underage girls to marry. Jessop said the new policy will forbid any girl to marry who is not of legal consent age in the state where she lives.I guess that will be the end of that now. Like we said, if consent is the only issue then numbers don’t matter.
And if adultery is not actionable at law.
Why wouldn't numbers still matter? The law doesn't allow minors to "consent" to anything, so the numbers (age) would be quite meaningful.
. . . as in number of spouses, Clint. Now that abuse and the marrying off of minors are taken off the table, who will say anything to them about the polygamy now? Because we hung our hat on "consent" only, on what grounds can one attack polygamy?
