Dingell to Waxman to . . . Oblivion?

So, the semi-crazed Henry Waxman has ousted the legendary John Dingell as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee by the close vote of 137-122 in the Dem House caucus. It’s the House Class of 1974 all over again. This was partly a vote against the Detroit auto makers, who have few friends these days, and partly it reflects the leftward tilt of the new Democratic Congress. Waxman is an idiot socialist (I can tell my own Waxman story), and is an Old Man in a Hurry. I suspect he is going to turn out to be one of WH COS Rahm Emanuel’s chief headaches, because Waxman will not want to take marching orders from 1600 Penn. Ave. The close vote shows the Dems are divided already! Fun times!

If the Left enacts the energy policy they desire, ------------- this economy will be as Governor Palin might say, "a world of hurt."

Waxman is also a thug. I don't use that word lightly.

What are they thinking? That vote is not nearly close enough and how do that many Democratic politicians think Henry Waxman is a sane person? If this is their idea of sanity, much less statesmanship...

I have had reasonable, normally sane conservatives insisting to me that this is the end of America as we have known it and that we are descending into a dark age. Daniel Henninger says roughly the same thing in the WSJ yesterday. The world ending not in a bang, nor in a whimper, but in a long, drawn out, grubby, uninspired whine.

Many in the center and on the right don't really believe the left has swallowed the Global Warming Scare (and the underlying Eco-philosophy) hook line and sinker. They tell themselves that Al and company is a minority, and the rest simply go along for the votes.

This vote (and many more to come) will correct this misconception...

On the other hand, imagine what the GOP would do in a situation like this. Instead of being true to it's alleged principles, the GOP keeps a man like Specter in charge of Senate Judiciary.

Yep, you have to give the Dem's credit, they run to the left and govern to the left. That's better than running to the right and governing to the left...

Well, Rep. Wax is the Mary Frances Berry of our day. With a paper resume like that, Berry and Wax should clearly be major players in a Dem administration. Instead the Dems know kooks when they see them, so Berry gets banished to the Civil Rights Commission by Pres. Clinton, while Wax gets E&C as a consolation prize, where he should have been, Energy Secy. or AG maybe.
Berry at CCR, lefty kook though she was, proved to be an anal pain to the Clinton administration, and no doubt Wax will do the same for O...but that's better than having him propped up like Jeremy Bentham's body at cabinet meetings.

Did anyone see the big 3 when the elitist illuminati asked who flew in commercial? That was priceless.
