Robinson's note below, and the fact that we are moving toward Constitution Day--reminds me to bring to your attention the latest Letter from an Ohio Farmer, appropriately entitled, Congress and the Constitution
. It makes the case that Congress is at the very heart of our experiment in constitutional self-government. You should subscribe to the Farmer's Letters, if you haven't already done so.

I really think Labor Day should be replaced with Constitution Day as a Federal holiday. I mean, you would think the Federal government would take a day off in celebration of itself...and as my pseduonym should indicate, I'm all in favor of a national union, the Constitution, and a restrained national government.
Make that a "robust but ultimately restrained national government"
